Lesson Summary

This is a supplemental lesson designed to give students an understanding of the perceived importance of social graces and etiquette during the "Victorian era" in the U.S. Using dance manuals as examples, students will describe how the emphasis on morals, manners and proper behavior were transferred from the dinner table to the dance floor. Students will also show that those lessons were ignored as the middle-class continues to dance its way into the 21st century.
