|
On this segment of your Legacy Quest, you will examine the lifestyle
of a Native American tribe and how it contributed to the survival
of early colonists in North America.
Task 1: Examine
three images by completing the Venn diagram
1. Click on the image below to look
at the drawing of the Secotan tribe
in North Carolina. What
does it tell us about how these Native Americans met their basic
needs of food, water, and shelter? List these
things on the left side of the Venn diagram.

2. Click on the images
below to
look at two images of the
Jamestown, VA settlement. What
do they tell us about how settlers might have met their
basic needs of food, water and shelter? List these
things on the right side of the Venn diagram.
3. Compare the photo of
the Secotan tribe and the drawing of the Jamestown,
VA settlement. In
the center of the Venn diagram list the things
the settlers may have learned from their Native American
neighbors.
Task 2: Read
from a primary source.
-
Read about some of the foods,
the water
supply,and
the shelters used
by the Native Americans.
-
Take
notes on at least three notecards (but no more than nine).
Use the notecard format practiced in class. What ideas
about food, water and shelter might the Native
Americans have shared with the Jamestown colonists?
